The Assistant Clerk's Office

Located next to the privy Council Chamber, this office, which was re-created in the style of the early years of the Confederation, was used by the Assistant Clerk of the Privy Council.

Located next to the Privy Council Chamber, this office was used by the Assistant Clerk of the Privy Council. The President of the Privy Council and the Clerk also had offices along this corridor, but only Room 233 communicates directly with the chamber.

The Assistant Clerk's office is a good example of the less elaborate quarters provided for the lower ranks of the civil service. The detailing of doors, windows and mouldings are much more simple than those found in Ministers' offices. The chimney piece is the same design as marble ones elsewhere in the building, but it is made of less expensive material.
